30 Minute Hot Rolls

This roll recipe has become a favorite of my family. It’s easy to make, ready in just a few minutes, and is really tasty.

1 package dry yeast
1/3 cup warm water
1 cup milk, heated
3 tbsp salad oil
3 tbsp sugar
1/2 tsp salt
About 3 cups flour

Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Dissolve yeast in warm water. Whisk in milk. Add oil, sugar, and salt. Stir in flour until dough becomes thick enough to roll out. Roll out about 1/2 inch thick. Cut into rolls with jar lid or other round cutter. Place rolls on greased cookie sheets.
Let rise in warm area for 30 minutes. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown.

  1. Ellen, I still enjoy your show every Wednesday. I have a request– a good chicken salad recipe or any good quickfix chicken recipe without rice or pasta. We also need a good spinach/artichoke dip recipe! Keep up the good work!!

  2. I’m actually working on getting a good chicken salad recipe for a show soon, so keep watching for it! Also, you can now search chicken on the recipes I’ve made. Chicken Quesadillas, Spinach Florentine (an OCH recipe!), and White Chili are some of my family’s favorite. I’ll keep my eyes open for a dip recipe that’s healthy.
    I’m still volunteering at OCH once per week, and I’ll be at OCH for the meetings more coming this next fall when I do part of my dietetic internship there. I really enjoy coming to the DSG meetings!
