Artisan Pizza

A couple of weeks ago, I gave the recipe for delicious Artisan Bread. You can check out my website if you missed the recipe! I’ve posted the bread recipe at the top. Today, I wanted to share a favorite thing I do with the bread dough – Pizza!

1 grapefruit-sized portion Artisan Boule Bread Dough
Tomato Sauce (1 small can)
Italian Seasonings (basil, oregano, garlic powder)
Veggies – mushrooms, tomatoes, bell pepper, onions, etc
Mozzarella Cheese
Parmesan Cheese

Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Place stone pizza pan on middle oven rack. Place an empty metal baking pan on a lower rack. Take about a grapefruit-sized portion of bread dough and roll out onto flat pan with cornmeal on it (no sides on the pan!). Spread tomato sauce over dough. Sprinkle generously with basil and oregano. Sprinkle lightly with garlic powder.

In a skillet, saute vegetables in olive oil. Once tender-crisp, place over sauce on pizza.

Top with mozzarella cheese. Sprinkle generously with parmesan cheese.

Allow pizza to rest for about 15 minutes. Carefully slide pizza off flat pan and onto stoneware in oven. Quickly and carefully pour about a cup of water into the metal baking pan and shut the oven door. Cook for about 20-30 minutes or until crust is done and cheese melts and begins to brown.
