Cereal is the main dish for most of my breakfasts. It is quick, easy, delicious, and provides many nutrients, including fiber, if you choose the right one. Look for a cereal that contains whole grains and is high in fiber, vitamins, and minerals. If possible, try to choose a variety high in protein. Since adults are supposed to be consuming at least 25 grams of fiber each day, choosing a cereal that’s high in fiber will help start your day off right. Try to get one with at least 5 grams of fiber per serving. Protein and fiber help you feel full longer so you won’t be starving by mid-morning. Top your cereal with low-fat or fat-free milk and add some fruit (strawberries, blueberries, peaches, bananas) for added flavor and nutrients.
