Making dough ornaments is a fun activity for the whole family. I got this idea from Mrs. Daphne McKibben. We’ve made dough ornaments with Mrs. Daphne several times. Try making candy canes, snowmen, Christmas trees, or whatever else you can think of. Have fun!
2 cups plain flour
1/2 cup salt
3/4 cup hot tap water
Mix the salt and water. Stir for one minute. Add flour and stir until you have a ball. Knead for a few minutes until it is soft and smooth. Place in a zip-lock bag and take dough out as needed for projects. Dough will keep a few weeks in the refrigerator.
For colored dough, add liquid tempera paint to the water before mixing.
Assemble your project on a piece of aluminum foil. When ready to bake just
lift foil onto cookie sheet. Bake at 225 degrees for 2-3 hours or until completely
hard. Seal with fast drying spray lacquer.
***You can roll the dough and cut with cutters or shape colored dough into whatever
design you wish. Just remember to apply water to join pieces together.
