Food Safety for the Fourth

Serving safe foods to your guests is more important than serving good tasting foods. Here are correct temperatures to make sure your food is truly good to eat.

– Keeping cold foods cold and hot foods hot is the key to keeping your food safe to eat.

– Cold foods (salads, condiments, drinks, etc) should be kept below 40 degrees.

– Hot foods (casseroles, burgers, hot sides, etc) should be cooked to 160 degrees (beef) or 170 degrees (pork, chicken) and kept above 160 degrees until storing them.

– Foods that haven’t been cooked yet (burgers, chicken, meats, casseroles, etc) should be kept below 40 degrees until you are ready to cook them.
