Healthy Cooking Tip – Don’t forget the Fruits and Veggies!

When cooking out it’s always easy to overeat. Instead of loading up on fattening appetizers and sides, first move to veggie and fruit dishes. Save calories and fat by hitting the fresh fruit salad tray first, then add a few grilled veggies. Have a taste of the fun (unhealthy) stuff, but then gravitate back to the healthy dishes.

If you’re attending a cookout and are nervous there won’t be anything healthy to eat, volunteer to bring a healthy side or dessert (like one of the ones above) so you’ll be able to enjoy yourself without going overboard!
