I am always interested in new uses for my crock pot. As a matter of fact, every time I use my slow cooker it just makes me want a second one! Last week, my sister, Amanda, sent me this recipe for Crock Pot Applesauce. I happened to have some apples going bad so thought I’d try it. It was so delicious that my husband and I ate it up within a couple of days and he had me buy more apples at the store to make the recipe again!
6 medium apples (any variety)
1/2 cup water
2 teaspoons cinnamon (can use more or less per your taste)
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Peel, core, and dice apples. Place in Crock Pot. Mix together water, cinnamon, and vanilla. Pour over apples. Cook on low for about 4 hours.
Once cooked, mash apples with hand masher to desired consistency. You can send them through the blender for smooth applesauce or leave them a little chunky like I did.
The applesauce will store for 4-5 days in the refrigerator or several months in the freezer.
