Today’s recipe is from Mrs. HelenSue Parrish from Starkville, Mississippi. Although I recently reconnected with her, HelenSue was one of the first people to welcome my family to the Starkville area when we moved here, so she has known my parents for about twenty years now. This recipe for Oriental Peanut or Cashew Crunch looks really good and I can’t wait to try it.
One 16-ounce package Original Quaker Oat Squares cereal (8 cups)
One 3-ounce can chow mein noodles (1 1/2 cups)
1 cup cashews or peanuts
1/3 cup vegetable oil
3 tablespoons soy sauce
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
Heat oven to 250 degrees. Combine first 3 ingredients in 13″x9″ pan; set aside. Combine remaining 4 ingredients in small bowl; quickly pour over cereal mixture. Stir to coat evenly. Bake 1 hour, stirring every 20 minutes; cool. Store in air tight container.
Yield: 10 cups
hi Ellen,
I have recently started a cookbook so this looks like a great recipe to put in it .
